Jaymin Asks a Simple Relationship Question on “Rollin”

South Seattle singer and songwriter Jaymin is stepping into a new chapter with “Rollin,” an R&B track about the uncertainty that can come with trying to figure out where a relationship is headed. Rather than telling a breakup story, the song sits in the space between wanting to keep a connection going and wondering whether the other person wants the same thing. 

Produced by Sango and Chase N. Cashe, “Rollin” pairs organ tones, deep bass and understated drums with Jaymin’s smooth vocal delivery. The song also draws inspiration from the chorus of Gucci Mane’s “Pillz,” taking the familiar phrase and placing it in a more vulnerable, relationship-focused setting. 

Jaymin grew up in South Seattle surrounded by gospel, ministry and soul music. His sound brings those roots together with influences from ’80s and ’90s R&B, modern production and rap-inspired vocal cadences. 

Listeners may already know Jaymin from his debut project Sweet Nothings and the breakout track “Something Real,”which has surpassed 14 million streams. He has also collaborated with artists and producers including Sango, Girlfriend and rjtheweirdo. 

“Rollin” offers a preview of Jaymin’s upcoming EP STATIC, scheduled for September 18 through Warner Records. While Sweet Nothings focused more on the highs of romance, the new project moves into love’s less certain moments, exploring distance, vulnerability, accountability and the questions that can surface when a relationship becomes more complicated.
