Lucky Daye and Leon Thomas Close the Distance on “Fly U Out”
Lucky Daye teams up with fellow R&B singer Leon Thomas for “Fly U Out,” a smooth collaboration centered on wanting to turn a long-distance connection into something that can be experienced in person. Released August 21 through Warner Records, the single is the latest preview of Lucky Daye’s forthcoming album.
The concept behind “Fly U Out” is straightforward: texts, pictures and video calls have reached their limit. The song follows the desire to bring someone closer, with Lucky offering to send the ticket and Leon adding his perspective to a relationship that still carries some uncertainty about exactly where the two people stand.
Musically, “Fly U Out” stays firmly in contemporary R&B while drawing from classic soul. Guitar, piano, percussion and a deep bass line create the foundation for the record, leaving plenty of room for both singers’ vocals. The track runs just over three minutes and moves at a relaxed pace that matches its intimate subject matter.
The collaboration brings together two artists with established roots in modern R&B. Lucky Daye has built a catalog that includes “Roll Some Mo,” “Over,” “That’s You” and his Grammy-winning album Candydrip, while Leon Thomas has developed a career that spans singing, songwriting and production. “Fly U Out” marks their first official release together as lead artists.
The single follows Lucky Daye’s “Nowhere Fast,” which began his new chapter with Warner Records earlier this summer. With a new album on the way, “Fly U Out” offers another look at the direction he’s taking—this time with Leon Thomas joining him for a song about moving a relationship beyond the screen and into real life.
