“The Sniper” displayed speed, accuracy and power throughout an intense eight-round battle on Zeus Network.
Shannel “The Sniper” Butler kept her perfect professional record intact Saturday night, defeating Argentina’s Marianela Ramirez by unanimous decision during the Zeus Network undercard at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Butler improved to 9-0 after eight hard-fought rounds in which her hand speed, accuracy and increasingly aggressive approach separated her from a relentlessly tough opponent. One of the announced scorecards favored Butler 78-74.
Ramirez made Butler work throughout the fight. The Chaco, Argentina, native continued moving forward, targeting Butler’s body and forcing her against the ropes. Her relentless pressure led to several intense exchanges, particularly during the second half of the fight.
Butler moved her feet with precision when the two fighters were close together, using her shoulder to create enough space to land quick, accurate punches to Ramirez’s head and body.
Butler delivered some of her strongest work late in the fight. She opened with punches to the body before landing a powerful left hook to Ramirez’s head. The combination left Ramirez visibly shaken, but she stayed on her feet and made it to the bell.
Butler had previously said she wanted to improve her ability to finish opponents after allowing a hurt fighter to recover in her last appearance. That lesson was evident as she immediately increased her output and continued attacking instead of backing away.
Ramirez refused to fold. She returned for the final round and resumed working Butler’s body, showing the resilience that defined her performance. Butler answered with faster combinations, short inside punches, and another hard shot that knocked Ramirez backward during the closing minute.
Butler continued searching for a knockout until the final bell. Ramirez made it through all eight rounds, but Butler’s cleaner offense and damaging combinations had already done enough to secure the judges’ decision.
Butler may not have ended the fight early, but she still delivered a statement: “The Sniper” is unbeaten, improving quickly and ready for a larger test.
